In honor of Fun Fact Friday and the fact that I was looking
at a job posting in Hawaii this morning, I’m going to give you some fun Ag
facts about Hawaii.
To make it a little easier to put into perspective, I’m
including data from Maryland (a similar sized state) and Nebraska (a massive
agricultural state).

Greenhouse and nursery products account for almost $1 million a year.
Sugarcane, macademia
nuts, coffee are the top commodities in the state. Dairy, eggs, cattle,
hogs, and of course pineapple are the other major products.
Apparently Hawaii even exports
livestock, which really surprised me. And overall? They really aren’t as
small of an agricultural state as I would have thought! Who knew?!
And while the cost of living may be a little higher than in other places, it really doesn't look all that much worse than most populated areas. Plus you get awesome weather and fantastic views right?
Would I be crazy to apply for a job in Hawaii? Probably. But if one comes along, I just might do it :)
