This Is Why Nobody Leaves Home

I'm an adventurer. If I had a living quarters horse trailer I would just travel the country and float. But even I am half tempted to just say forget about it and move back home right now.

I moved from Virginia to Wyoming for college...and that definitely wasn't all rainbows and butterflies. I did NOT like Wyo that first year. And I changed houses every year I was in college. I spent 2 long years without my darlin' pups. But I ended up falling completely and utterly in love with the West and wouldn't change my experiences for the world.

I moved from Wyoming to Kentucky for grad school...and that was no bucket of gold either. I lived alone for 2 years (really alone for 1 and 1/2 because my pups went back to my Mom due to HATING Kentucky). But I survived and am ready to move on with life.

We (and it is a WE this time, because my other half is moving with me) are moving to Nebraska in a little over a week because of a job I accepted (don't worry he has one as well). I think this is going to be a great time for us: new place, being together, growing up, all those fun things. But finding a place to live has been a DISASTER. Turns out nobody wants tenants with pets.

The boy and I are Aggies, so of course we have dogs. Who knew moving to a farming community would make for such difficult house-hunting?

That living quarters horse trailer would sure come in handy right now...too bad we have just a plain ole stock trailer...

This adventure will definitely be a trial by fire for the two of us. And even though we aren't married just yet, I can't help but think of those faith-filled vows:

With this ring I thee wed, and all my worldly goods I thee endow. In sickness and in health, in poverty or in wealth, 'til death do us part.

We may end up being some of the most well-off homeless people in that section of Nebraska. And not well-off in money. But I wouldn't want to be in this situation with anyone else.

I will end this evening with some words of wisdom about waiting...because I sorely need to be reminded of patience after today:

God will prepare you to do that thing you are destined to do. He has already made the provision. You just need to take a step of faith.

Faith in God includes faith in His timing.

God's path requires faith that He knows where we should go and patience that He knows how to lead us there.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

Deep breath in, deep breath ouuuuuuut. OK, I don't feel like this quite as much anymore. Maybe.

  1. Oh my...I'm feeling your pain.
I know it's not scripture, and I can't be certain who first coined the phrase (John Lennon, Paolo Coelho or Ferdinando Sabino have all been credited) But...
"It will all be okay in the end...if it's not okay...it's not the end."
I have found myself thinking this (and saying it out loud often over the years)
Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers during this hard time.

    1. Oh that's definitely a good one that I wasn't thinking about during my panic attack yesterday! I will have to stick that to the truck steering wheel or something ;) And thank you...we are gonna need all the prayers we can get!
